Born in Lewisham, London in 1981, Phil attended BETHS school in Bexley until the age of 15, when he left to study art and design at North West Kent College in Dartford. Sadly he wasn't comfortable at college and got rather tired of being forced to make felt cushions and other things that he simply wasn't interested in, when all he really wanted to do was to draw and paint. Following a half-absent first term, he fled college and disappeared into the underworld of the printing industry, where, due to the necessity of paying bills he remains. For the present time, anyway.

Phil has no qualifications in art or design and as a result is entirely self-taught. Rather than feel inadequate about his lack of formal education, he looks at it positively; he has always been his own master where art is concerned, with very little forced influence. He feels that what he puts down on paper and canvas is very much the work of his own mind.

Phil's works vary dramatically from piece to piece. He is a dab hand with a pencil and paper, but equally adept with a mouse and a monitor. He takes inspiration from all kinds of things, the list too exhaustive to publish. He really likes tentacles, though. He isn't trying to convey any particular message through his art. For him, art is simply his own outlet for the extra stuff in his head that probably shouldn't be in there. And if people like the result, then that's a lovely little bonus.

Phil lives in Barnehurst with his wife and son and their very large and very silly cat, Hector.
